  • Our Fairy Friendship service offers drop-in bookings. Bookings may be made through our booking system. If it is your first time booking, you may complete a Wishlist to access our booking system. The Wishlist is located under the Families tab in the navigation bar at the top of the page. If you have already completed a Wishlist or already have a login, you may login via the login link at the top right of the webpage.

  • You may request a private placement by submitting a Wishlist. The Wishlist is located under the Families tab in the navigation bar at the top of the page.

  • Fairy Friendship bookings offer convenient, standardized care through vetted, readily-available caregivers who deliver The Hearth Fairy's expected standard of excellence in care. Bookings can easily be made on-demand in our booking system via our website or app (*you can download the Enginehire app to more easily access and manage your profile). Any of our Hearth Fairy offerings can be booked including childcare, pet care, home organization and much more. You may submit a single booking or multiple and repeating bookings.

    Private placements offer an even more personalized placement experience. Households seeking full time placements or other household requirements and preferences are recommended to do a private placement.

  • All caregivers go through a thorough vetting process to ensure quality, character, and confidence. Here are the steps of our prescreening and qualification process:

    • Resume review

    • Application review

    • Reference checking

    • Interview

    • Background check

    • Motor Vehicle Report check

    • Social media check

    • Mandated reporter certification

    • First Aid, CPR & AED certification for infants, children, and adults

    Caregivers also undergo ongoing training and review to ensure consistency and quality of care.

  • The matching process is part of the magic of The Hearth Fairy because when a match is made, that’s when the magic happens.

    Bookings are primarily matched based on fairy availablity. Families may specify the fairies they would like to book, or they may leave it up to The Hearth Fairy to select the match. We aim to keep fairies consistent with families, but also recommend that the family establishes a network of caregivers to use in case backup care is needed.

    The matching process for private placements are much more detailed as we promote the job postings to specifically seek the type of caregiver the family is seeking. These specifications further direct our screenings and selection process to find the best-fit caregivers. The prescreened caregivers are then sent to the family for review and participate in a facilitated interview. The Hearth Fary consults with the family after each interview to gather feedback and modify the search as needed. Once the family selects a care over, The Hearth Fairy onboards the caregiver to the household, ensuring all compliance documents and trainings are completed.

  • Because of the detailed nature of the placements, private placements typically take between 2-6 weeks more or less. The total time for placement depends on the volume and quality of the applicant pool, how quickly the family completes each stage of the process, and how ready the family is to make a final decision.

  • For our Fairy Friendship drop-in bookings, fairies are booked based on availaility as well as the preferences of the family and fairy. Families are able to select and mark their favorite fairies in their profiles to give the selected fairies priority in booking requests. When booking a fairy for the first time, The Hearth Fairy will arrange a complimentary meet and greet with the fairy to allow each party to get familiar before the actual booking.


    For private placements, The Hearth Fairy does all of the preliminary screenings of caregiver candidates based on the family’s caregiver specifications and preferences before sending the profiles of the qualified candidates to the family. When the family selects the profiles they like, The Hearth Fairy will arrange a facilitated Zoom interview between the family and the selected caregiver candidates. The Hearth Fairy will consult with the family throughout the interview process to receive feedback to better focus the search for the right caregiver as well as provide guidance to the family on selecting a caregiver. Once the family has a preference for 1-3 caregivers, The Hearth Fairy can set up a trial booking for the family and caregiver candidates to get a better idea of their compatibility. When the family selects their choice of a caregiver, The Hearth Fairy will complete the placement process by ensuring the needed onboarding paperwork and trainings are completed. There is a 6 month guarantee period for private placements in which a family may request another search be performed if they are unsatisfied with their selected caregiver. Replacement placements are complimentary within the first 30 days of the placement and $250 per placement any time after 30 days within the 6 month guarantee period.
